Mookie Betts to Miss Several Weeks Due to Hand Fracture

Dodgers Shortstop Fractures Left Hand in Win

Betts Hit by 97.9 mph Fastball

Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star shortstop Mookie Betts will miss several weeks after sustaining a hand fracture in Tuesday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Betts was hit by a 97.9 mph fastball from Diamondbacks pitcher Caleb Smith in the fifth inning, causing a fracture to his left hand.

Betts is expected to be placed on the injured list and is expected to miss at least six weeks. The Dodgers have not yet announced a replacement for Betts at shortstop.

Betts is a key part of the Dodgers' offense and defense. He is a two-time Gold Glove winner and a four-time Silver Slugger. He is also a key part of the Dodgers' leadership group.

The Dodgers are currently in first place in the National League West and are considered one of the favorites to win the World Series. Betts' injury is a significant blow to the Dodgers' hopes of winning a championship this season.
